"This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, and ask where the good way is, and walk in it. You will find rest for your soul."
Jeremiah 6:16 NIV

"Duty, Honor, Country"

By Jerry Stewart It was Thomas Jefferson, who said, " I have sworn upon the Alter of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." Daniel Webster said, "God grants liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it." And why? Edmund Burke said it this way; "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." And our brave soldiers have done so very much. And they continue to serve us all. Yes, the call has gone out, and tens of millions of brave Americans have honor that call, and today we honor you. After WWII, after seeing the American soldier fight in two wars, General Douglas MacArthur said this, "Always for them: Duty, Honor, Country. Always their blood and sweat and tears as they saw the way and the light… Against the filth of dirty foxholes… The stench of ghostly trenches… The slime of dripping dugouts… Those boiling suns of relentless heat… Those torrential rains of devastating storms… The loneliness and utter desolation of jungle trails… The bitterness of long separation of those they loved and cherished… The deadly pestilence of tropic disease… The horror of war. I do not know the dignity of their birth, but I do know the glory of their death. They died unquestioning, uncomplaining, with faith in their hearts, and on their lips the hope that we could go on to victory. This is the American solider."
