On August 19, 1814, the British army invaded Washington D.C. and set it on fire. But that day, before they could succeed in the total destruction of our capitol city, someone saved it. The question is this – “Who saved the city?”

During the War of 1812, the British army invaded Washington D.C. and determined to burn it to the ground. They set fire to our capitol buildings, even the white house – they were unopposed – save One.

Before the flames could do serious damage, a terribly violent storm struck D.C. unlike any storm which could be remembered there. The wind raged, the harsh rain beat down on the soldiers, and they became afraid, very afraid – and they abandoned the city – Washington D.C. was saved.

But by Who? Almighty God!
